Last updated: October 27, 2025

Setting up a payroll schedule ensures pay periods are clearly defined and employees are paid on time. Follow the steps below to create a payroll schedule.

1. Name the payroll schedule

  • From the main menu, go to Business Settings

  • On the Pay Schedules page, click Pay Schedule Name

  • Enter a descriptive name (e.g. Bi-weekly payroll) to easily identify the schedule

2. Set the pay frequency

  • Click Pay Frequency

  • Select how often the client will pay employees (e.g. weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly)

3. Define the anchor dates

In the Anchor dates section, set:

  • End of next pay period – The last day of the current pay period

  • Next pay date – The date employees will receive their pay

4. Choose a pay day movement setting

This determines how the system handles pay dates that fall on weekends or holidays:

  • Previous business day – Deposits are made the business day before

  • Next business day – Deposits are made the business day after

5. Save your schedule

  • Click Save to finalize the payroll schedule
