Yes. ATB Payroll is exclusively available to ATB business banking clients, providing you with a seamless and integrated experience. Additionally, we offer some of the fastest employee payment processing times in the country, helping you manage your payroll efficiently and with greater certainty. You can also view your ATB account balance directly within the payroll platform, allowing you to quickly and confidently avoid non-sufficient funds (NSF) situations.
Does ATB Payroll handle payroll remittances to the CRA?
Yes, ATB Payroll automatically calculates and remits payroll taxes to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
Is ATB Payroll compliant with Canadian payroll regulations?
Yes, ATB Payroll fully complies with all Canadian federal and provincial payroll laws, including tax regulations, deductions and remittances. We automatically update the system whenever regulations change.
How does ATB Payroll ensure up-to-date tax rates and payroll rules?
ATB Payroll updates automatically whenever tax laws change, ensuring you’re always compliant without needing manual adjustments.
Payroll Features & Functionality
Does ATB Payroll support federal and provincial tax calculations, including CPP, EI, and QPP?
Yes, ATB Payroll accurately calculates CPP, EI, QPP & QPIP, and all other statutory deductions according to the latest CRA rates.
Does ATB Payroll help you manage workers compensation and employer health taxes?
Yes, ATB Payroll accurately calculates WCB, WSIB, EHT and similar provincial taxes. However, at this time the software does not remit these taxes on your behalf.
Can ATB Payroll generate and file T4, T4A, and RL-1 slips?
Yes, ATB Payroll automatically generates T4, T4A and RL-1 slips, making year-end tax reporting simple. You can also electronically file them with the CRA and Revenu Québec directly through our platform.
Does ATB Payroll support direct deposit for employee pay?
Yes, ATB Payroll supports direct deposit payments to employees, ensuring fast and secure payroll processing.
Can ATB Payroll handle different pay frequencies (weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, etc.)?
Yes, ATB Payroll allows you to set up payroll schedules that fit your business, whether you pay employees weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, or monthly.
Does ATB Payroll support payroll for contractors and self-employed workers?
Yes, you can easily process payments for independent contractors and generate T4A slips at year-end.
Does ATB Payroll handle vacation pay and statutory holiday pay?
Yes, ATB Payroll software provides an automated calculation for vacation pay and statutory holiday pay, designed to align with common employment standards.
Can I pay employees by cheque if needed?
While our system doesn’t support printing cheques, we can debit the remittances and provide you with the exact amount to write. This ensures your reporting stays accurate and up-to-date.

Does ATB Payroll support multiple business locations and payrolls for different provinces?
Yes, ATB Payroll allows you to manage payroll across multiple locations and provinces while ensuring compliance with all relevant provincial tax requirements and workers compensation premiums for each jurisdiction.
Can ATB Payroll integrate with accounting software like QuickBooks or Xero?
Yes, ATB Payroll integrates seamlessly with QuickBooks and Xero to ensure smooth financial reporting.
Is there an employee self-service portal?
An employee self-service portal is planned in the future. In the meantime employees will be emailed their pay stubs and T4s.
Payroll Setup & Processing
What are your processing timelines?
We provide two business day processing for ATB business banking customers. For all other customers the processing time is four business days.
How many clicks does it take to complete a standard payroll run?
It takes three simple steps to complete your entire payroll run. Most users finish in under five minutes.
How do I set up a new employee in ATB Payroll?
You can add new employees through the "Employees" section in your dashboard. Click "Create an Employee" and fill in their personal information, tax details and banking information. Remember to save all changes before exiting.
How complicated is it to add a new employee or make changes to existing employee information?
It's simple. Make changes on the fly during payroll runs or access all employee information through our dedicated employee module —whichever works best for you.
How do I add a new employee mid-cycle?
Go to Employees > "Create an Employee". Enter their details, tax forms and payment preferences. They’ll be included in the next payroll run automatically.
How do I edit a payroll after submitting it?
Navigate to Payroll > View Payroll, then convert the payroll back into a draft payroll. Adjust hours, deductions or bonuses, then resubmit. Employees will receive updated payslips automatically.
What happens if my account has insufficient funds (NSF)?

How do I adjust permissions for my accountant?
In Manage Users, configure the access at a role level. Changes apply after a refresh.
How do I run an off-cycle payroll (e.g., bonuses)?
Click Settings > Pay Schedules > "Create Another" in your dashboard. Select employees, add earnings, and submit. Off-cycle runs follow the same 1–3 day deposit timeline as regular payroll

Our support includes an online help center with detailed articles, informative 1:1 training sessions, and instructional videos. We also offer a comprehensive library of video tutorials that clearly demonstrate how to use every feature of the system.
How do I access payroll history?
Export reports via Payroll Dashboard > Previous payroll tab > Select payroll > Download Report.
